Last weekend the Group held a joint camp at the Scout District camp site at Bexon Lane with the Cubs and Scouts from the 1st Sittingbourne (SA).

The Weather held fine for the majority of the weekend and some even got a tan on the Sunday.
The young people, many of whom were camping for the first time, The Guides, Cubs & Scouts pitched their own tents and took part in a wide range of activities which included, pioneering, sports, camp fire, cooking, games and Scouts and Guides Own.

It was on a poster outside a Church this caption ‘Some piercing’s cost more than others’, and four photo’s. The first showing a nose stud, the second an ear ring and the third a belly piercing. Each of the first three looked ok and attractive in their own sort of way. But the fourth picture was a mess! It was horrible, covered in blood, flesh was ripped, jagged and gnarled.

The fourth picture was of a hand; and the back of the hand was resting on a rough piece of wood that was soaked in the blood streaming from the injured hand.
The hand had a nail through the centre, not an ordinary nail that you may be forgiven for thinking may have come from any DIY enthusiast’s box this Easter weekend, this nail was rough. It was huge and rusty and thrust deep into the tissue of the hand causing great pain and injury and pinning the hand to the wood beneath.
This was not a picture from the A & E department of the local hospital! This was the hand of Jesus, suffering and bleeding in agony for us!
“Hands that flung stars into space, to cruel nails surrendered” (Graham Kendrick)
Jesus gave his life so that we might know friendship, forgiveness and reconciliation to God. Let’s take time this Easter to remember his sacrifice, what it cost him and think about how we respond to his love.
‘Some piercing’s cost more than others’!!!

“God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 GOSPEL!

Leaders from both the Scouts and the Guides at the Sittingbourne Salvation Army joined with Salvation Army Scout and Guide Leaders from all over the UK territory at Sunbury recreation centre for a weekend of training organised by the UK Territory Children’s ministries unit at THQ

Leaders joined together for useful ideas on recruiting and retaining adults, valuing diversity, addressing special needs and a host of other ideas to enhance the weekly Scout and Guide programmes at the various Salvation Army centre’s represented.
The leaders enjoyed times of fellowship, worship, reflection, education and fun. Special thanks must go to Melissa Green, the Adult Training Manager for the Scout Association and Leaders from Girl Guiding UK who presented the Guide focussed sessions. Notes from the Scout focussed sessions can be found on the 4th Medway (SA) Web site. Photos taken by leaders from Medway can be found by clicking on the photo above.

The Group held its ususal Church parade this weekend on Mothers day.

It was great to see nearly all the new members of the Scout Group join with 1st Sittingbourne (SA) Scout Group and the regular congregation at The Sittingbourne Salvation Army Church to celebrate Mothers day.
Members of both the Guide and Scout Groups took part in the service reading prayers, taking the offering, helping the Captain and paying tribute to their Mum’s. It was fantastic to see a full Hall with lots of Mums and Dads of the young people joining for the service led by Captain Robert Jepson.
The young people presented potted primrose plants to their Mum’s and all ladies present in the meeting. They then joined the other Young People in the Junior Church.
